MyTime is for parents and carers of a child (aged 0-16 years) with a disability, chronic medical condition or other additional needs including developmental delay. Unwind, meet new people and share experiences with others who understand.

About MyTime

MyTime is funded by The Department of Social Services (DSS) and is provided in partnership with the Parenting Research Centre, Playgroup NSW, Interchange Illawarra, TAFE Illawarra and Big Fat Smile.

This program is about assisting families who care for children 0-16 years of age to develop social networks, enjoy some time out and provide children who have additional needs and chronic illness an opportunity to socialise with other children.

The supported playgroup initiative is the only one of its kind Australia wide where TAFE Child Care students have a practical opportunity to work with, and better understand, children with disabilities in a social learning environment for the child and siblings. Over the years many of the Early Childhood Education students have developed a passion for supporting children with a disability and now work in the disability sector.

If MyTime sounds like something you would like to find out more about, please fill in the contact form below or call the office for a chat on 4227 1079.

Meet Kylie, MyTime Facilitator in Wollongong

Kylie is the facilitator of MyTime in Wollongong and a Support Coordinator with Interchange Illawarra.

With a Bachelor of Education qualification, Kylie spent several years as a primary school teacher before starting her own family. She has since built extensive experience as a Support Worker in aged care and disability services, as well as facilitating playgroups, including groups for children with disability.

As a mother of four adult children, including two sons who receive NDIS funding, Kylie brings valuable lived experience to her role. She understands firsthand the challenges families can face when navigating the NDIS and accessing the right supports.

In her role as a Support Coordinator, Kylie assists participants and families to understand and implement their NDIS plans, coordinate supports and services, prepare for plan reviews, organise appointments and reports, and make the most of their funding to achieve their goals.

Known for her calm, practical and approachable nature, Kylie enjoys connecting with people and creating welcoming, supportive environments where families feel comfortable sharing their experiences.

When she’s not working, Kylie enjoys crocheting, making handmade cards, spending time with her family, and getting outdoors for a walk in the sunshine.

Kylie is passionate about supporting people with additional needs and helping them feel informed, connected and empowered on their journey.
