LAC, STA, OT, PM!? The NDIS can be tricky to navigate at the best of times – and the endless list of acronyms doesn’t make it any easier!
We’ve provided a list below of the most common acronyms used accompanied with explanations.

AAT – Administrative Appeals Tribunal who you appeal to if not satisfied after RoRD.
ADL – Activities of Daily Living
Agency Managed – NDIA pays providers directly.
ARF – Access Request Form
AT – Assistive Technology
Ax – Assessment
CB – Capacity Building. A funding category in an NDIS plan.
Core – A funding category in an NDIS plan
Capital – A funding category in an NDIS plan
CP – Clinical Psychologist (or Cerebral Palsy)
Delegate – Person with authority to make an NDIS decision.
Dx – Diagnosis
EP – Exercise Physiologist
FOI – Freedom Of Information
IA – Independent Assessment. Aka IFA
IFA – Independent Assessment aka IA.
ILO – Individual Living Options
LAC – Local Area Coordinator
Planner – NDIA employee who writes your plan. They may or may not be a Delegate. You may deal directly with a Planner or, more likely, with an LAC.
OG – Operational Guideline
OT – Occupational Therapist
Physio – Physiotherapist
PM – Plan Manager
Psych – Psychologist
PT – Personal Trainer
PWD – Person (or People) With Disability
Q&S Commission – Quality & Safeguards Commission.
R&N – Reasonable & Necessary
RC – Recovery Coach
RoRD – Review of a reviewable decision aka S100 or internal review.
S100 review – Section 100 review aka RoRD or internal review.
SC – Support Coordinator aka Coordinator of Supports (CoS)
SSC – Specialist Support Coordinator
SW – Support Worker
Sx – Symptoms
Tx – Treatment
NAT – National Access Team
NDIA – National Disability Insurance Agency. The agency who administers the NDIS
NDIS – National Disability Insurance Scheme
Participant Portal – aka myplace – links to mygov. Gives access to update details, view your plan, view expenditure &, if self-managed, claim funds.
Plan managed – An intermediary pays providers and keeps records for you.
Price guide – Policy, codes and price caps
Self-managed – You do all claims & payments & keep records.
SDA – Specialist Disability Accommodation
SIL – Supported Independent Living
STA – Short Term Accommodation.
WHODAS – World Health Organisation Disability Assessment Schedule
