Parents & Carers

As well as supporting people with disabilities and their families, we believe in developing opportunities for parents and carers to ensure their lives, as well as the lives of those they care for and their immediate families, are enriched. We do this through assisting parents and carers to participate in their local community, foster relationships that strengthen informal networks provide information and support to plan for their future through key stages of life.

1. Caring for the Carer

To overcome some of the barriers that are associated with caring for a family member with a disability, Interchange Illawarra believes in providing holistic support to parents and carers.

2. Workshops & Information

We can provide one-on-one support to parents & carers to assist with the development of visual aids to support communication with the person you care for.

3. We Value Your Feedback

Your feedback, as well as ideas and suggestions for different activities is very much appreciated.

Interchange Illawarra provides a choice of services for people with a disability and their parents/carers.

Since 1981 we’ve been improving lives by expanding horizons in so many ways.Today, with the emergent NDIS we’re your partners in a new and flexible world, helping you make sense of vital services and maximising opportunity.To us, caring goes beyond physical wellbeing to include discovering new talents and abilities, new friendships, enriching life. We do this by offering you Individual Support.

Individual Support for people at all life stages. Interchange offers flexible levels of support tailored to the needs of the individual, from a few hours a week to 24 hours a day.

Together, with many long established and quality assured respite and other support services, we add to the quality of life with a wide range of activities tailored to various needs and age groups.

Saturplay for children with autism, aged 4-12, that helps build friendships that last a lifetime.

Youth Group for teenagers and young adults with a disability, to spend time with people their own age.

Adult Groups for social events, movies, pamper days, tenpin bowling, outdoor experiences, the beach, barbecues, trips and short stays away for adults with a disability.
